Path-Goal theory

House developed a theory called Path-Goal theory which states there are four leadership styles;

Directive - task orientated, sets standards, controls behaviour, uses rewards and disciplinary actions.

Supportive - people orientated, supports subordinates with personal concern for their well-being.

Participative - believes in group decision making regarding goals and resolving issues.

Achievement-oriented - goal setting, encourages and believes in followers reaching their best.
